Hurrah! Finished at Last.

Finally finished the jacket. It was really difficult to decide what to do with the top panel. But I just went for it and hope it was for the best. I think I'm pleased with the overall affect, but I've been working on it for so long that It's kinda hard to be detached enough from it to know if it's any good or not!

And Another!

My second sari-bag. Made it yesterday. This one has lovely shiny pink lining. Picked it up from a recycling place. I'm not sure if it was some sort of shrine cover or maybe a rather fancy table cloth!
I'm now going to try and finish the embellished denim jacket. I'm hoping to put it in a local exhibition next week.

Sari-Bag

Made a couple more booklets. The booklets are meant to be last on the blog and the sari-bag at the bottom is meant to be first. Haven't quite got there on working this blogging malarky out yet!

Wearing my charity shop find. Dodgy photo. Just learnt how to use the self-timer on my camera. Only had it a year! Evidently need more practise.

The sari-bag I made yesterday. Really pleased with it. The lining looks gorgeous with the sari fabric. The lining was a skirt picked up at a jumble sale and the sari another boot fair find.

Gone with the Wind

Just finished watching Gone with the Wind for the third time. It's only taken me four days to get through it this time. It probably would have taken longer, but I've just been forced to sit downstairs as we are having plastering done in the hall and there's no access upstairs. What a fantastic movie. I felt inspired to see it again as I have just started reading the book. I think it will take longer than four days to read that though. The character Rhett Butler is so sexy and Clark Gable plays him so well. Shame he was meant to have had halitosis (Gable not Butler).

Have recently finished reading the autobiography 'Les Girls' by Constance Tomkinson. Really enjoyed it. Fun, frothy and rolled along at a fast pace. It's an old book that I picked up at a charity shop. It has the loveliest little illustrations.
I have just started colour co-ordinating my stash of buttons into separate glass jars. This has been inspired by Annette at the craft group. I am very anal in this way so it's nice to know there are others out there. Her jars looked lovely with their own colour thing going on in each one. It set off some very interesting confessions during the session of people's secret habits involving buttons!!! Also other anal activities that we like to do. I love sorting - paper, fabric, cotton thread. Anything really, usually colour co-ordinated though.

I've been rooting around at our local car boot fair and I found some lovely jars for some of my buttons. I also found this lovely braid and ribbon. Got myself lots more clothes I don't need too!

There are some interesting sites to do with buttons. The history of the button over at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A23623616 and a buttonarium museum (although this is going through some construction at the mo) at http://www.buttonarium.com/.

I've been using buttons during some of my workshops and I took out the ones that meant something to me a couple of weeks ago. I've no idea where I've put them though. I wanted to take their picture for this blog. They are probably somewhere so safe that I have managed to conceal them even from myself. They include some buttons that belonged to my nan. I loved raiding her button jar. She had some beautiful ones that were fantastic for whizzing round on a piece of thread, all the colours became a blur.

Mice and Men

All the good plans I had for doing a blog everyday seem to have completely blown to the wind. Oh well! Went to a lovely wedding in Dorset last weekend. Danced my butt off. Glorious weather, beautiful rustic old cottage to stay at, surrounded by family and of course the sea. Took my camera. Didn't get it out once. Had my self-esteem raised though. Got chatted to by a very young, rather good-looking chap. Doesn't happen very often, especially by the young ones!!! It must have been my new shoes. I didn't own a pair of party shoes, so I treated myself to some. They are sort of dominitrix (not sure if I have spelt that right?). My, did I feel sexy in them. Felt crippled by the end of the night though.

Monday's craft group was great fun. They just don't come quickly enough. I showed the others how to do mirror prints. The results are unpredictable but it is a fun medium to work with. We had another raffle draw and I won a prize; a little sketchbook made by Annette. It's just like Christmas when you win.

I have slowly, oh so slowly been working on embellishing a denim jacket. So I got a few more yo yo's made for it. Wonder if I'll ever finish it?
I have not had much time to be creative recently, other than the odd doodle in my sketchbook.
But the last couple of days I've had a bit of a creative spurt. Made some mini sketchbooks/notebooks/journal type things and had a go at making a leather cuff. Didn't quite worked out as planned. Tried using snaps for the closure. Thought I was following the instructions well. Obviously wasn't. They just don't seem to fit together and fixing them in seems a really cock-eyed way of doing it. Used some trusty glue as well in the end as they seemed baggy! Had a go at another one and have ended up using ribbon.
